I finally convinced Matt to let me get the 10 Minute Trainer DVDs by Tony Horton and I am so excited!  I have started P90X a couple of times, but I never follow through with it the entire way because it takes up at least an hour of my day.  I will be able to work in 10 minutes here and there for sure though! It is my Valentine's day present. Romantic, huh?  I am ready to get the rest of this baby weight off! 8 pounds to go! (I am eating a freshly made cookie while I am typing this, haha!)

Jackson has been sick since Thursday.  I have been trying to keep Braxton, who is only six months old, from catching the germs and it is difficult!  My hands look like they have aged about 20 years from the constant washing and sanitizing. So sad.  Needless to say, I can't wait for Spring to get here!

Today is one of those days that I have been really reflecting on myself and my life.  Don't worry, I won't get too deep on you, but I have some things I would love to be better at.  I think as I have gotten older and become a real "grown-up" I have forgotten some pieces and parts of my personality that I wish I could get back.    I recognize that as we become adults it is imperative that we mature and leave some of our former selves behind, otherwise we will never be able to reach our full potential as leaders, teachers or parents.  BUT, I am finding that in my life there are so many heavy situations that I could take a lesson from my formal whimsical self and realize everything can't be seen as a burden or trial.  A change in thinking could mean a change in attitude and action, and that might lead to a more positive outlook on whatever situation may arise.

So here I go.  I am taking a step back.  I want to start being spontaneous.  I want to love freely without fear or hesitation.  I want to be more creative.  I want to share my talents with confidence.  I want to look at life with the expectation that my best years are ahead of me, not already passed. I have hope that I can accomplish all of these things and more.

That is all. Sorry if this is a little too revealing.  If I have made anyone feel uncomfortable just click out of the page and we will pretend like it never happened! :)

p.s. I threw in some pictures of my boys to show you what makes my life so great!

Where to Begin?!

Let me just start by saying that our summer has been very eventful!  As usual, we celebrated a whole lot of birthday's.  Some events this summer were milestones, though.  My sister was married and my little family welcomed another baby boy.  Jackson is starting full-time preschool today, which is another big adjustment.

My sister Lexie's wedding was on June 16, 2012.  She asked me to be the maid of honor, so it was a busy time.  I was almost nine months pregnant!  I had a wedding shower and bachelorette party for her.  I don't have pictures, but my mom does so maybe I will insert them later.  I enjoyed being able to be apart of her big day.  I spoke at the wedding luncheon and I do not remember a word of what I said, but I am pretty sure it mostly consisted of how much I love her.  At the reception, we got a couple of cute pictures in before Jackson decided to jump in a pond. :)  When the dance portion of the reception started, Matt and I got to lead a flash mob my mom had arranged for Lexie's wedding.  It was a lot of fun.  Lexie didn't quite get what was going on.  She jumped in and started dancing.  She kept asking me how everybody knew the actions to the dance.  It was cute and she actually caught on to the dance pretty quickly!  It was a beautiful wedding and we are happy to welcome Hayden to our crazy family.

Next, I had a baby!  I went into Timpanogas Regional Hospital for an induction on July 23, 2012 at 12:00 pm.  Everything went pretty smoothly.  This labor was about 100 times better than the labor I had with Jackson.  The epidural actually worked this time! Also, it only took 9 hours.  Jackson took 21 hours from start to finish, so that was a big improvement.  Our baby boy was born at 9:03 pm on July 23, 2012.  He weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.  He was named "Baby Dearing"  for the first twelve hours of his life, until Matt and I decided on Braxton Cole Dearing.  We have had so much fun with out new little guy.  He definitely has a different personality than Jackson already, but they have one thing in common; they always want to be moving!  Braxton doesn't like to be set all........ever.  He has started smiling and cooing a little bit and it melts my heart!  He is just over five weeks old today and I can't believe how big he is already.  We love him so much!

All of the boys in my little family have their birthday in July: Matt- July16, Braxton- July 23 and Jackson- July 27.  Matt turned 31 years old this year and Jackson turned 3!  Matt got a bunch of presents and we went to Market Street Grill for dinner.  We had a circus themed birthday party for Jackson to cater to his current obsession of elephants. We had a lot of fun swimming at my parents house and celebrating with family and friends.

Through the whole summer, Jackson has been going to summer school at Bridges.  He is familiar with the teachers and has always enjoyed going there.  We decided it would be the best move for our family to switch Jackson over to the school district this year.  They offered Jackson a full-time spot at their preschool in the autism unit.  Today is his first day of school.  It was really hard sending him to school today.  He just turned 3 for heaven's sake!  He is probably half the size of most of the kids that are starting kindergarten and he is going to be going to twice the amount of school that they are! His school day starts with the bus picking him up at 8:45 am and ends with him being dropped off at 3:50 pm.  That is a long day for anyone, let alone a 3 year old.  I know that Jackson craves structure and this will be a great thing for him, but it is hard as a mother to let go like this.  I am sure we will both be fine though.  I will let you know how it goes.

So hear are some of the changes that have happened over the summer.  I am sure I have left some things out, but I will hopefully improve as I update my blog more frequently.  Bye!

p.s.  This is too long for me to go over and spell/grammer check right now.  So if I offend anyone, I am deeply sorry! :)

Birthdays, Showers and Celebrations!

So, I typed this post back in May and never published it.  Better late then never, right? :)

April and May are always really busy months around the Dearing house.  This year they have been compounded due to my baby sister's wedding coming up.  Now that we live in Utah, we also get to go to all the birthdays.

My birthday starts the madness off on April 18,  closely followed by my brother Tyler on May 4.  We get a little break until the 20th of May, which is the biggest birthday of the year because Justin talks about all year long.  My brother Justin turned sweet 16 this year.  I can not believe that he is growing up so fast!  He will be getting a cell phone, so I am ready to receive at least 3 to 4 prank calls a day.  He already has a girlfriend!  What is a big sister to do?  His birthday party was on the 19th and it was so much fun!  It had an bouncy slide, dunking tank, swimming pool, water-balloon volleyball, and a lot of food including cotton candy, fresh popcorn and snow cones!  There was even a dj (Justin's uncle and my sweet husband Matt).   Justin had the time of his life and I think all of his friends did too.  They were all so cute and excited to be there.

May isn't over yet, but I have my dad's birthday on May 31 and then my mom's on June 5.  I still have to throw a couple of friends and extendend family members birthdays in there as well.  The big celebration is on Memorial Day with my Davis extended family.  Whew!  Once the new baby is here July will turn into another crazy month so I am gearing up for that.

I helped with my friend Jessica's baby shower in April.  It was so cute and she has more baby clothes then Brody will every be able to wear.  She has already had her baby!  He came on May 5 and was two weeks early.  Jessica had plans to go to a movie with us on May 4 at 10:00 pm, but cancelled because she was worried about going into labor.  Good thing she didn't! Her water broke at 12:00 that night and we were still in the movie.  She would have totally ruined the movie for Jamie'se husband, Trevin!  Jessica had a cute baby boy she named Brody and I couldn't be happier for her.

More to come!

So I think the reason that I have such a hard time blogging is because the time gets away from me and I always feel like I need to play catch-up.  I start thinking about all the things that have happened in my life and I realize I would have to write the longest blog post in the world to get everything in.  So instead I will just summarize in the next couple of posts.  The first one I actually wrote back in May, but I didn't attach pictures so I was waiting to do that before I published and now look where we are! Oh well.

New Adventures

A couple of weeks ago we found out that we will be having another little boy! We are really excited.  I think that it will really help Jackson's development to have a brother.  It will be an adjustment, but I can not think of anything more awesome for our family then our little addition on the way.  Our baby is developing really well according to the ultrasound and is measuring to be due right on his original due date of July 28th.  The month of July is going to be full of birthdays in the Dearing family.  Matt's birthday is on July 16 and Jackson's is on July 27!

My mom, my dad, Matt and I all went to Cancun a couple of weeks ago.  We had so much fun!  I love being immersed in different cultures.  Everyone was so nice and accommodating, especially since we could not speak very much Spanish.  I really hope to learn Spanish someday.  Anyway, it was fun to be able to hang by the beach and eat lots of Mexican food.  We went to Tulum and saw some Mayan ruins and lots of iguanas!  There was also the most beautiful beach there with white sand and turquoise water.  We took the ferry over to Cozumel and rented an old convertible VW bug (they called it a Mexican Ferrari). We drove all over the island and ended up at another beach.  It was great to be able to have some relaxation time before the new baby comes.  I am sure we won't be going anywhere like that for a while.

I am going to be going to Massachusetts at the end of this month for an Autism training program.  It will be hard for me to leave Jackson again so soon, but this is going to be a great opportunity to learn how I can help him in his development.  I will be out there for about a week and they will train me how to work with Jackson without relying on someone else to help me, so that will be nice.  The training is in a particular method called the Son-Rise method.  It is very similar to the floortime method that I use.  I really think that Jackson needs a range of different methods to help him progress.  They use the ABA method at his school, so he his going to definitely get a mix of therapies.  He will be losing his early intervention services at the end of July, so I really want to know that I am trained in some of these therapies before that change happens.  Jackson shows some form of progression almost every day.  His eye contact this week has been amazing.  I know that he is a smart little boy just waiting to break through these invisible barriers.  The progression that he continues to show despite his challenges is so encouraging for our family.  We are so grateful to have him in our lives.  I have learned so much from him already.  He has increased my patience, understanding, forgiveness, non-judgemental attitude, humility and love to just name a few things.  I can't say enough about Jackson!

In case you didn't know, this month is Autism Awareness month!  Raising awareness is really important because the prevalence of Autism in continually increasing.  The latest statistics on Autism in Utah have jumped from 1 in 77 to 1 in 47! Yikes! The prevalence in boys alone is actually 1 in 32.  Pretty scary stats, right?  I hope that if anyone that reads my blog has any concerns or questions about Autism, they know they can contact me.  I am an open book when it comes to this stuff and I want to help others in any way that I can.  I know that I am not an expert on Autism, but I know a few things. :)  The earlier Autism is detected, the more they will be able to help the child.  Early intervention is a huge component in the way the child develops throughout their whole life.  I wish that I would have known sooner with Jackson, but we still caught it early enough to do some early intervention.

Happy Autism Awareness month and I will update soon! :)

The Dearing family has been busy as usual!  A lot has developed over the last couple of months.  Jackson was officially diagnosed with moderate autism.  We were expecting this diagnosis, so it is nice to actually have it done so that we can get him the schooling that he needs.  My life mainly consists of driving Jackson to school, ABA, structured playgroups or his therapy sessions.  He is one busy 2 1/2 year old boy!  We are always on the go.  I am seeing him develop more everyday and I am so proud of the milestones he is reaching.

We also have some exciting news,  I am pregnant with baby number 2!  I am due July 28, the day after Jackson's birthday.  I am about 16 weeks along right now and so far so good.  I am actually measuring a week ahead!  We are  nervous and excited for Jackson to have a new sibling.  Hopefully he will adjust to having his parent's world not just revolve around him.  I think a brother or sister will help him out a lot in his development.

We are living out of my parents house again. Haha.  We moved into a nice townhouse in Lehi, UT.  I am still putting things away from the move.  It is definitely coming along.  Jackson has his own large sensory/playroom. We are so excited to be on our own and still living close to family!  I got called to be the RS chorister in our new ward and Matt is still flying under the radar.  They will give him a calling eventually! They always do!  I should start dropping hints to the bishop that Matt wants a big calling. :) That is what Matt always does to me.  That is about all that is new in the Dearing family.
